Unfortunately not all essential nutrients can be made by the horse themselves, and a changing diet could bring about an imbalance in certain Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) that are required for the horse's wellbeing. PureFlax contains a perfect balance of Omega-3 and Omega-6, which if lacking can affect the horse's temperament. PurFlax Flax Seed Oil is an easy to digest supplement which helps maintain strong hooves, glossy coats, joint and skin health, and an all-round better condition. It is also an important digestion aid and can reduce a lactic acid build up in the muscles, which commonly causes fatigue in performance horses.
PureFlax Flax Seed Oil is produced only in Yorkshire, from growing of the crop to the cold pressing of the seed. There is absolutely nothing added to this process, hence this being a 100% natural product with 58% Omega 3.

I use flax oil for my stiff joints so thought it may help my horse, after 2 weeks I am seeing some improvement, will continue for whole container and decide if to continue with it. Shame it has no pump and none to buy separately that said it fitted so messy to use.

confused
Hello,
I have a relative who came from traveling with your product for my dowry. The foal weighs 170 kg and is 9 months old! I am confused about what dose to give him, can you help me please?
Thanks,
This depends on the weight and workload of your horse. You should dose as per the table below:
Weight | Light Work | Hard Work |
---|---|---|
Pony (250kg) | 25 – 50ml/day | 50-100ml/day |
Horse (500kg) | 50-75ml/day | 100-200ml/day |

Would this be suitable for my PSSM mare . If yes how much would I give her . She is 15.3 and is 530kg . She is on weight loss programme.
Thank you Agnes
It is important to minimise feeds high in starch if your horse has Polysaccharide Storage Myopathy (PSSM). To meet your horse's energy requirements you can feed fats instead, such as PureFlax Flax Seed Oil. If your horse needs to lose weight then I would feed a lower end dose of this product, 50-75mls daily into the feed would be suitable. If you are finding your horse is not losing weight on this product then you may need to stop its use.

I want to put weigh on our foals for the sales. What is the maximum quantity of flax a foal can have per day?
Hello,
Thank you for your question,
I have spoken to PureFlax they have advised no more than 10ml per day, but please would you call them as they would need to know on weight and ask a few questions and its always best to make sure based on weight.
Thank you,
Miss Stella McLachlan

Is flaxseed another name for linseed..??
Yes, Linseed and Flaxseed oil are the same thing- obtained from the seeds of the flax plant.

Hi,
Is this product likely to cause weight gain? My mare is already overweight.
Regards
This is a relatively high energy supplement and so theoretically could contribute to weight gain. However the overall energy content is not high compared with the total energy intake of a typical horse and so weight gain should not be a problem if the diet is otherwise appropriate. A high fibre/low energy diet should be your aim generally, then this supplement could certainly be included.
